Driving rideshare in LA only pencils when the math is honest. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is built for it: 51 mpg combined means a tank covers the better part of a week of airport runs and Westside loops, and the cabin is quiet enough that passenger ratings follow. At our standard daily rate it’s $3,630 a month. At 28+ days the 30% long-term discount drops it to roughly $2,800 — a number that actually leaves room for earnings after gas, insurance is already covered, and you don’t need to find a deposit twice a week.

If the Camry is more car than the week needs, the 2024 Volkswagen Jetta starts at $97 a day — the cheapest unit in the fleet, sedan body, four doors, clean interior, ready for an Uber X profile. The Kia K4 sits between the two: newer styling, comfortable for longer Friday-night runs, easy on fuel. All three pass standard TNC vehicle requirements in California; you’ll still need to add the car to your rideshare profile and meet the platform’s own paperwork.

One thing we’re direct about: rideshare and delivery use must be disclosed up front, before the keys move. Commercial TNC driving requires its own coverage that differs from a standard personal-use rental. We need to know the platform, the expected weekly hours, and your driver number so we can match you to the right insurance setup through our partner. Drivers who tell us up front get a clean 28-day quote and a car that’s set up correctly. Drivers who don’t risk a coverage gap on a claim — not worth it for either of us.
