Hotel, park,
and the drive home.
Most Universal Studios family trips start with a 5 p.m. landing at LAX or BUR. We meet you curbside with the SUV detailed and fueled — see our LAX pickup landing or BUR pickup landing for the airport-specific routine. From either airport, the drive to the Universal Hilton or Sheraton Universal is well inside an hour outside rush.
The Universal Hilton at CityWalk is the canonical Universal Studios family hotel. Valet handles the Telluride, the X7, and the Equinox without issue. We drop at the porte cochère, leave keys with the bell desk under your name, and you valet in or out as the trip needs. Sheraton Universal at the top of the hill is the same routine; the Tilt Hotel is more boutique but equally easy.
Park-day logistics: Universal Studios Hollywood opens at 9 a.m. on most days, with early-admission for AAA and on-site hotel guests an hour before. Leave the hotel at 7:30 a.m., drive the five-minute trip down Lankershim, park in the Universal structures (or take the in-park shuttle from the hotel), and you are at the gate before opening. The lot fits the Telluride and the X7 without an issue.
Beyond park day, the Universal-area SUV makes the trip more flexible. Day trips to Hollywood (10 minutes), Beverly Hills (25 minutes), Santa Monica (45 minutes), or the Griffith Observatory (15 minutes) are easy from a Universal Hilton base. For longer Yosemite or Big Bear extensions, see our X7 family-trip guide.

Common questions.
- Which Universal-area hotels do you deliver to?
- Universal Hilton at Universal CityWalk, Sheraton Universal at the top of the hill, the Tilt Hotel Universal/Hollywood off the 101, the Garland in North Hollywood, the Hilton Garden Inn Universal Studios, and most of the Studio City corridor along Ventura. Standard delivery is to the hotel porte cochère.
- Can we drop the SUV at Universal Studios and park there?
- Yes. Universal Studios Hollywood has structured parking that fits all three SUVs without issue. The Telluride and X7 are at the larger end of the lot but both park comfortably. Standard parking is at the front of the structure; preferred parking is closer to CityWalk if you upgrade.
- Does the Telluride fit a family of seven plus park gear?
- Yes. The Telluride SX is configured 2-2-3 with captain’s chairs in row two, plus the third-row bench. Two adults fit in row three for meal-to-meal stints. Cargo space behind the third row is enough for a daypack and a stroller; with the third row down, you get a week of family bags.
- How does pickup work after the park closes?
- Same as drop. You drive out of the Universal lot, take the 101 or Lankershim back to the hotel, valet handles the car. We pick up the next morning or whenever your trip ends.
- Is the BMW X7 worth the upgrade over the Telluride?
- For some families. The X7 is the luxury SUV with three real rows, panoramic glass roof, Bowers and Wilkins audio, and a quieter cabin. The Telluride is the value pick at $54 less per day. If the kids are big and the cargo is heavy, both work; if the trip includes a Yosemite or Big Bear extension, both work; if budget is the constraint, take the Telluride.
- Do you include car seats?
- No, but we will install yours if you bring them. The Telluride has captain’s-chair LATCH and a third-row LATCH on the passenger side; the Equinox has full three-across LATCH on the bench; the X7 has LATCH in the second row.

I had a great experience renting this M3. The car drove incredibly smoothly and had no issues at all during my trip. It also got a lot of compliments — definitely a head-turner. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy.
Great communication, the car was clean, and the pickup and drop-off at Burbank Airport was easy. Would definitely use them again.
