What to do
with the weekend.
PCH-1 from Santa Monica to Point Dume is 24 miles of two-lane coastline — the drive most people fly in for. Best window: 7–10 a.m. Saturday before the day trippers arrive, or 4–6 p.m. Sunday when the beach traffic thins. The CLE's soft-top closes in 20 seconds at up to 37 mph, so the marine-layer transitions between Topanga and Las Flores are a one-button move.
Loops we recommend: PCH-1 north to Latigo Canyon, up to Mulholland Highway, across to Kanan Dume, back down. That's a 50-mile round trip with three completely different canyon textures, lunch at Malibu Farm or Geoffrey's, and you're back at the hotel before sunset. Or push further — Neptune's Net at County Line, the Rock Store on Mulholland (Sunday morning bike crowd), Saddle Peak overlooks.
For dinner reservations, the CLE valets cleanly at Nobu, Soho House Little Beach, Mastro's Ocean Club, and Geoffrey's. No issues with low entries — the front splitter clears typical valet ramps. The car is Obsidian Black, which photographs well at golden hour against the cliffs north of Zuma.
Want a longer stay? The CLE is a comfortable highway car — Santa Barbara is 70 miles up PCH, Ojai is 90. Top-down to Ojai for a Sunday lunch at Boccali's is a route worth knowing. Renters bring their own eligible insurance, or use our broker for coverage at booking.
Note on parking: most Malibu hotels and houses have flat driveways with no issues for the CLE. The exception is Calamigos Guest Ranch, where the gravel driveways can scuff softer wheels — we'll plan the drop at the lot entrance there. Just tell us the address at booking.

- Where exactly do you deliver in Malibu?
- Anywhere from Sunset Boulevard to the Ventura County line — the Malibu Beach Inn, Calamigos Guest Ranch, Nobu Ryokan, the Surfrider, or a private home rental in Point Dume, Latigo, or Broad Beach. Delivery is free for direct bookings of 2+ days.
- Is the CLE Cabriolet OK on PCH-1?
- It is built for it. The 9-speed automatic and 255-hp turbo four make easy work of the climbs from Topanga and Las Flores. AIRSCARF keeps the chill off your neck when the marine layer rolls in. Soft-top opens or closes in 20 seconds at up to 37 mph.
- Two adults plus weekend bags — does it fit?
- Comfortably. The CLE is a true four-seater, but two adults with weekend duffels and a small carry-on each is the sweet spot. The trunk swallows two cabin bags with the top up; one with the top down.
- What does insurance look like?
- Renters bring their own eligible insurance, or use our broker for coverage at booking. We confirm exact coverage at reservation. Min driver age 25.
- Can I take it up to Santa Barbara?
- Yes — 150 included miles per day, with additional miles billable. SB and back from Malibu is about 100 miles round trip, well inside the daily allowance.
- How fast is delivery?
- We reply within the hour and can typically deliver the CLE to Malibu the same day for confirmed bookings. PCH traffic is the variable — we plan the drop around the Topanga / Las Flores chokepoints.
