How Long Beach pickup works

Land, board,
or drive into LA.

Long Beach Airport (LGB) is one of our easier delivery points. The terminal is small, the curb is short, and walking from gate to car runs under five minutes most days. We deliver to the curb just outside the main terminal entrance — text us when your bags are coming off, and the car is there by the time you reach the curb. Carriers serving LGB include Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, and Hawaiian.

The Long Beach Cruise Terminal at Pier H is the other major pickup point. Carnival Cruise Line runs three-, four-, and seven-day departures to the Mexican Riviera and Catalina, with embarkation day at 11 a.m. and disembarkation early the next morning on return. We deliver to the cruise terminal drop-off zone on embarkation day; you board, and we pick up. On return, we meet you at the terminal curb at the agreed pickup time.

For first-time LA visitors, the cars we recommend most are the Camry Hybrid and the Prius. Both are easy to drive, full hybrid powertrains (no plug-in management), excellent fuel economy on California prices, modern Apple CarPlay/Android Auto infotainment, and the safety suites you would expect from 2024-2025 Toyotas. The Jetta is the budget pick at $97 a day — clean, simple, well-equipped for the rate.

From Long Beach, the drive into the main LA tourist destinations: Disneyland is 15 minutes north on the 605/91. Downtown LA is 25 minutes north on the 710. Santa Monica or Beverly Hills is 35 to 50 minutes northwest on the 405. For travelers doing a Long Beach cruise plus a few days in LA before or after, the economy rental handles the full trip without difficulty.

For longer stays, see our long-term rental guide or the monthly long-term page. For pickup at LAX or BUR instead, see our airport comparison.

Renters bring their own eligible auto policy, or add coverage at booking through our broker partner. Owner-operated, 1,444 trips on the platform, 5.0 average rating across all cars. Phone answers.

FAQ — Long Beach economy rental

Common questions.

Do you deliver to Long Beach Airport (LGB)?
Yes. LGB is a small, easy airport on Donald Douglas Drive. We deliver to the curb just outside the terminal — typically a five-minute gate-to-car experience. LGB is one of our easier delivery points.
Can you deliver to the Long Beach Cruise Terminal for an embarkation day?
Yes. The Long Beach Cruise Terminal at Pier H handles Carnival Cruise Line and occasional charter departures. We deliver to the terminal drop-off area; you board, and we pick up the car. Same routine in reverse on disembarkation day — pickup at the terminal curb.
Which cars do you recommend for a Long Beach economy rental?
For cruise travelers and first-time visitors, the Toyota Camry Hybrid ($121/day, 51 mpg combined) is the workhorse pick. The Toyota Prius ($115/day, 57 mpg combined) is the fuel-economy champion. The 2024 VW Jetta ($97/day) is the budget pick — clean, modern, easy to drive.
How far is Long Beach from LAX?
Roughly 22 miles, 30 to 50 minutes by car depending on time of day. If you are flying into LAX with a Long Beach cruise embarkation, we can deliver to LAX and you drive to the terminal, or we can deliver directly to the cruise terminal — whichever fits your schedule.
Is parking at the cruise terminal an issue?
Cruise terminal parking is run by Carnival/the port operator and runs roughly $20 per day, paid in advance. For a one-way drop on embarkation day where you do not need parking, our delivery is the simpler answer — we drop, you board, no parking fees.
How does insurance work for an economy rental?
Renters bring their own eligible auto policy, or add coverage at booking through our broker partner. Most personal auto policies extend to economy rental cars — verify with your carrier or ask us at booking. Coverage costs less on our economy lineup than on the BMW/Mercedes fleet.

I had a great experience renting this M3. The car drove incredibly smoothly and had no issues at all during my trip. It also got a lot of compliments — definitely a head-turner. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy.
